The Beach House Track Chardonnay is from our Gimblett Gravels vineyard on Mere Road and is 100% Clone 95. The grapes were hand-picked on the 4th of March at 23.5 brix and were whole bunch pressed to tank to settle. The clean juice was then pumped into three French puncheons (500L) and three French barrels (225L). The wine underwent primary fermentation and malo-lactic fermentation in barrel at around 20°C. The wine was left in barrel for 10 months where it was stirred weekly to retain freshness and promote mouthfeel.
This wine is showing lifted floral notes on the nose underpinned by white fleshed peach and has a distinct minerality expressing the Gimblett Gravels from which it came. A finely textured wine on the palate with a beautiful fresh acidity. The Track Chardonnay is an elegant and complex wine that is drinking well now but will also age gracefully for many years to come. This wine would be incredible matched with pan seared snapper – caught off the coast of Te Awanga of course!
